UNGA 2024: Join us for “Art, Care, & Action” at NeueHouse in NYC
Join us on Friday, September 20th, 2024 for Art, Care, & Action: Creating the Future of Reproductive Rights Around the Globe at NeueHouse Madison Square in New York City during the United Nations General Assembly.
This event is hosted by Women on Web, the Universal Access Project, Repro Uncensored, Plan C, Amnesty International USA, Autumn Breon, and FEMINIST.
In conjunction with International Safe Abortion Day, Art, Care, & Action brings together global voices working at the intersection of art and reproductive rights to showcase care activities, film screenings, and panel discussions envisioning the future of reproductive rights around the world. The evening will open with a curated care sound meditation and a dance workshop by the Brazilian collective Mulheres Ao Vento. Care services will be led by intersectional artist Autumn Breon, and Emmy Award Winner Tani Ikeda will lead a Survivor Love Letter workshop. Plus! Don't miss out on our Amplifier Art giveaway!
The event will also feature a panel discussion with speakers from Senegalese Pan African collective Kimpavita, Amplifier Art collective, and digital rights experts who will focus on innovative, culturally grounded strategies for addressing reproductive rights challenges globally, from West Africa to North America.
Additionally, FEMINIST and Womanly Magazine will host a special preview of their upcoming FEMINIST Film Fest. Screenings will include films that explore global feminist themes, such as bodily autonomy and gender roles, to be followed by a Q+A on how films can impact activism and cultural expression.
Throughout the evening, guests will be able to check their voter registration status and register to vote. Care services (nail art and reiki) curated by Autumn Breon will also be available free of charge.
This event is taking place as part of a broader campaign spanning three continents, which also includes events in Brussels and rural Senegal from September 18-22. This initiative seeks to drive inclusive and international conversations on reproductive rights and abortion access, using art and activism as tools for change, and to amplify the collective call for reproductive justice across different cultures and continents.
